Chris Galakoutis is the publisher of HellenicAthletes.com, a site launched in early 2006 (readmore). In the lead up to the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Chris was highly critical of the manner in which the media reported on Greece’s preparations, and therefore following those Games he decided to develop this website, and publish comprehensive, full-length, English language Greek sports news in order to offer readers more than your typical run-of-the-mill commentary found in the mainstream press. Chris is also a published business writer, with his articles having appeared in several leading financial websites. He also works with athletes who compete globally as an international tax advisor. Originally from Montreal, Chris currently resides in Westport, Connecticut with his wife and daughter.

Since 2001, Chris took a greater interest in the sport of athletics after meeting the young Greek-Canadian sprinter Nicolas Macrozonaris (Athlete section). In Mexico City, Macrozonaris ran a PB of 10.03 seconds at the Banamex Grand Prix (Watch Video) to win the 100m dash, defeating a high quality field that included then World Record holder Tim Montgomery of the USA.
